More about Amber:

My shift to living more mindfully began in January 2019 when I transitioned from a long-held management position at a holistic chiropractic office. During that shift, I leaned heavily on daily guided meditation (via Insight Timer), breath work, and talk therapy to help clarify my personal and professional life goals. Since then, I have completed an 8-week MBSR (Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction) course, affirming the value of breath-focused meditation for my stress response and anxiety. It also helped me reevaluate my reaction and experience to stressful circumstances and impermanence.

As the Director of Operations for Andersonville Mindfulness & Psychology, I oversee our billing and insurance procedures, administrative and logistical demands pertaining to our business operations, and assist in onboarding and benefits administration for our growing team of therapists and clinical students. I also manage and implement the practice’s marketing needs, including designing in-house promotional materials for groups and our online presence through our website, newsletter, and social media. This multifaceted role allows me to strengthen organizational and operations management strategies while sharing my creative talents as a graphic designer, writer, and content creator.

One of my key roles at AMP is to foster and maintain a safe and welcoming environment for our team and all individuals who visit our offices. Whether for their individual therapy appointments, group therapy meetings, or at our public-facing events such as art openings and networking gatherings, I strive to ensure that everyone feels safe and welcomed.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Humanities focusing on Art History and Women and Gender Studies from the University of Michigan-Dearborn (2005). I have worked in project and business management roles for over a decade. I am passionate about helping to break the stigma around mental illness and advocate that access to mental healthcare should be a human right. In my personal time, you’ll find me streaming 90s romcoms, tinkering with creative writing, volunteering to help end food insecurity, and walking along the shores of Lake Michigan – in all seasons. I love to travel and attend concerts. My creative practices include collage, photography, and writing. Someday, I hope to publish a memoir of my personal experience with death, grief, and forgiveness.
