Psychological Testing

office with desk, computer, notepad, chair and shelving

People are referred for psychological testing for a variety of reasons. We offer the following testing services:

  • Intellectual testing
  • ADHD
    • Many struggle with concentration and attention issues. Psychological testing can help decipher if these difficulties stem from an attention-related diagnosis such as ADHD or are a consequence of anxiety and mood symptoms.
  • Learning Disabilities
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Academic Accommodations
    • Schools often require psychological testing in order for students to receive accommodations and/or an IEP (Individualized Education Program). Students can receive support for a variety of reasons including ADHD, learning disabilities, adjustment due to trauma or other impactful life events, and ongoing mood and anxiety diagnoses.
  • Diagnostic clarification
    • This type of psychological assessment is particularly useful when diagnosis is unclear. Treatment recommendations are tailored specifically to each person’s presenting symptoms and background

What can you expect?

  • Because insurance companies typically treat psychological testing differently than therapy services, our team will investigate your benefits and provide you with comprehensive information about your coverage and potential out-of-pocket expenses. They will also discuss payment plan options with you if necessary. We also offer out-of-pocket rates for testing, depending on the referral question and extent of testing needed, as well as reduced rates, when available.
  • Because we aim to provide thorough evaluations, the process will take several hours.
    • You and your clinician will meet for 1-2 appointments to conduct the clinical interview where the clinician will ask you questions pertaining to the reason you are seeking testing and gather information about your history. This meeting may be in-person or virtual.
    • You will meet for at least one in-person testing session. These sessions usually last 3-4 hours.
    • You will be given electronic questionnaires and other measures to complete online.
    • Once all of the data is gathered and these appointments are complete, we aim to provide a comprehensive report to you within 2-3 weeks. You will then meet for a virtual feedback appointment to review the testing results.
    • You will receive a copy of your report at that feedback session or shortly thereafter.
