Therapy is an active and collaborative process that can look and feel different to everyone. Regardless of the reason that brings you to therapy, within the therapeutic environment, the unique lens you experience the world through is valued and embraced. It takes work, time, and energy to explore and share parts of yourself with someone else. To honor your commitment, I will create a safe, judgement-free environment to support you, though at times it can be uncomfortable and challenging. You are in control of what is or isn’t explored or tried because of your individual preferences, readiness, or comfort.

Together, we have the opportunity to uncover new or alternative ways to approach ourselves, others, and our environment that helps create alignment with your individualized goals and values. We can accomplish this by working toward psychological flexibility, or the ability to “hold thoughts and emotions lightly.” Through the use of evidence-based techniques, including mindfulness, you will be invited to try integrating various tools and resources in and out of therapy in order to determine what works well for you.

Much of my professional experience has focused on advancing health initiatives in non-profit community-based organizations. That experience allows me to integrate a holistic approach that recognizes that all aspects of wellness, e.g., physical, sexual, spiritual, emotional, etc. impact our overall health. We all have mental health and it impacts and is impacted by every other part of our life. We can work toward integrating all aspects of yourself fully.

I hold a Master’s degree from Adler University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and am a registered dietitian. I am an Illinois-based Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
