Thomas (Tom Bob) Nedderman, LPC, CRC

What story are you telling yourself? We all have stories about our lives, stories to which we often become very attached. It’s those stories of lack and limitation, pain and frustration that take us out of alignment with our true nature, which I believe is resilient, good, whole, and complete. My aim as a counselor, coach, and therapist is to know your wholeness and to help you to know it too.

By using your very own and very personal story, we can identify the patterns and beliefs that hinder your ability to express and experience good. Together, we can rewrite the story and learn to be in relationship to “what happened or what’s happening” in a new and more conscious way, a way that is empowered and indeed whole.

I tend to be pretty intentional in my approach to coaching and counseling, while at the same time lighthearted in my style. In fact, I have a pretty wicked sense of humor. And in this day and age, who doesn’t need a good laugh! Conversely, I treat the therapeutic relationship as sacred and consider it an honor and privilege to bear witness to each and every story that is told to me. Sessions with me are infused with the power of mindfulness and connection to that intrinsic and intuitive part of ourselves that always knows. You can also bet that I’m entirely human. I’m not afraid to coach and counsel from my own vulnerabilities. Like you, I have my foibles and flaws. And just like you, I have my share of fabulousness too!

I received a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University and subsequently attained my national certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). I also hold my Illinois state license as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Additionally, I received extensive training in addictive and compulsive behaviors through the Addiction Studies program at Harold Washington College. To top it all off, I am licensed as Spiritual Practitioner through United Centers for Spiritual Living.

With all that said, my life experience and perhaps my “Honorary Doctorate” from the “School of Hard Knocks” is what truly informs how I utilize all my education and training. It’s what enables me to hold a therapeutic space that is compassionate, empathetic, and grounded.
