Who We Are

Clinical Intern

Modern life has presented us with no shortage of challenges, compromises, and struggles. Extending kindness to others and ourselves becomes more difficult every day, as kindness is something disincentivized or even discouraged by the structures of our lives. My approach to mental health seeks to recenter our stories about ourselves with kindness at the forefront. I fervently believe that inside all of us is an earnest craving to do good, and that only by celebrating that part can we bring it forward and give it voice.

I am a third-year student at DePaul University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. My previous career experience is rooted in nonprofit and government-run healthcare and gave me perspective on what I wanted to bring to the world professionally. During my education with DePaul, I have undertaken coursework centered on Addictions Counseling, Internal Family Systems, Human Sexuality, and Lifespan Development. My theoretical approach is person-centered and humanistic, and I am particularly interested in parts-informed language and theory.

I am a cisgendered gay man from a small southern town, so I have a keen interest in LGBTQIA+ issues and religious trauma. My greatest concern as a counselor is making sure that my clients feel supported and heard, and I look forward to learning and developing through the relationships I build with each of them.

In my free time, I am an avid TTRPG (tabletop role-playing game) and board game player. Most weekends, I see a movie with my husband and then settle in for a night around the table with a close group of friends. I also have two cats, who I think about more often than not.
