My name is Isabel, and I am a 24-year-old Chicago native currently completing my internship with AMP during the final year of my graduate program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at DePaul University. Over the past three years, I have developed a strong foundation in evidence-based counseling practices while gaining valuable clinical experience. This means I have begun to learn what to employ in terms of clinical techniques and how to measure growth.
In addition to my internship, I work as a Community Support Specialist, where I support adults living with severe and persistent mental health conditions. My experience includes working with individuals navigating addiction, trauma, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and schizophrenia spectrum and related disorders, to name a few.
As a counselor-in-training, I strive to work with adults who recognize that their stories extend far beyond their presenting concerns or diagnoses. I align best with an approach we call “Humanistic,” which means that as your counselor, I will not isolate your symptoms, but rather focus on you as a whole entity, working collaboratively to support you as you grow to reach your full potential. I believe that showing up as your most authentic self can strongly contribute to a strong therapeutic relationship. My goal is to ensure my clients feel seen, heard, and empowered. Together, we work toward fostering self-awareness, resilience, and meaningful growth as clients move toward self-actualization and a life that aligns with their values.
